I
used critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity to compete
any project in many different ways. I used critical thinking by researching and
feeling old articles and books to get information on Swing Dance. The use of
communication was simple for me. I usually called or emailed my mentor if I had
any question and help. I would really see him every Wednesday sometimes Monday,
Tuesday, and Friday.
I gained knowledge, form, and experience. The knowledge I
gained from swing dance is the meaning and understanding of dance. Gaining knowledge
how Swing Era changed our life today. I also gained experience how to dance in
different variety of swing dance. The form I gained from swing dance is the
style of swing dance is danced. The gain of how swing dance is danced in
different forms to music. I gained experience how to dance with elderly and
young people in different style.
The challenges I encountered and how I overcame them was
flawless. When my swing dance class lessons began I twisted my ankle really
badly. The next week I manage to return with a stained stiff ankle and still
danced. The last five classes I pulled my hamstring and my glutenous muscle by
spinning my partner and performing moves which requires moving your body in
specific ways. I managed to come back the next week. I went through many pains,
but never said “I cannot dance due to my injuries.” I danced even though I was
in little pain because this how much swing dance meant to me. I was careless
about my injuries because I was worried about school. I would usually iced or
put icy hot pain relief cream on to heal faster. I healed up fast and I decided
to stretch to avoid getting injured again.
I truly enjoyed my Capstone Project because I got to
experience and learn something that I had no interest in. I’m really graceful I
got the opportunity to swing dance and dance with elderly people. I truly think
the Capstone Project helped to see who I’m truly am. I learned I have a great
passion in dance and entertainment.
